Surah: AL‑KAHF

Ayah : 27

And recite, [O Muúammad], what has been revealed to you of the Book of your Lord. There is no changer of His words, and never will you find in other than Him a refuge.

Surah: AL‑KAHF

Ayah : 28

And keep yourself patient [by being] with those who call upon their Lord in the morning and the evening, seeking His face [i.e., acceptance]. And let not your eyes pass beyond them, desiring adornments of the worldly life, and do not obey one whose heart We have made heedless of Our remembrance and who follows his desire and whose affair is ever [in] neglect.[1]

1- Or "in excess," exceeding the limits of AllŒh.

Surah: ṬĀ HĀ

Ayah : 130

So be patient over what they say and exalt [AllŒh] with praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting; and during periods of the night [exalt Him] and at the ends of the day, that you may be satisfied.

Surah: AL‑ḤAJJ

Ayah : 78

And strive for AllŒh with the striving due to Him. He has chosen you and has not placed upon you in the religion any difficulty. [It is] the religion of your father, Abraham. He [i.e., AllŒh] named you "Muslims" before [in former scriptures] and in this [revelation] that the Messenger may be a witness over you and you may be witnesses over the people. So establish prayer and give zakŒh and hold fast to AllŒh. He is your protector; and excellent is the protector, and excellent is the helper.

Surah: AN-NŪR

Ayah : 54

Say, "Obey AllŒh and obey the Messenger; but if you turn away then upon him is only that [duty] with which he has been charged, and upon you is that with which you have been charged. And if you obey him, you will be [rightly] guided. And there is not upon the Messenger except the [responsibility for] clear notification."

Surah: AL‑FURQĀN

Ayah : 57

Say, "I do not ask of you for it any payment only that whoever wills might take to his Lord a way."

Surah: ASH-SHU‘ARĀ’

Ayah : 213

So do not invoke[1] with AllŒh another deity and [thus] be among the punished.

1- Or "worship."

Surah: ASH-SHU‘ARĀ’

Ayah : 214

And warn, [O Muúammad], your closest kindred.

Surah: ASH-SHU‘ARĀ’

Ayah : 215

And lower your wing [i.e., show kindness] to those who follow you of the believers.

Surah: ASH-SHU‘ARĀ’

Ayah : 216

And if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing."

Surah: ASH-SHU‘ARĀ’

Ayah : 217

And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,

Surah: AN-NAML

Ayah : 91

[Say, O Muúammad], "I have only been commanded to worship the Lord of this city,[1] who made it sacred and to whom [belongs] all things. And I am commanded to be of the Muslims [i.e., those who submit to AllŒh].

1- Or region, meaning Makkah and its surroundings.

Surah: AN-NAML

Ayah : 92

And to recite the QurÕŒn." And whoever is guided is only guided for [the benefit of] himself; and whoever strays say, "I am only [one] of the warners."

Surah: AN-NAML

Ayah : 93

And say, "[All] praise is [due] to AllŒh. He will show you His signs, and you will recognize them. And your Lord is not unaware of what you do."

Surah: AL‑‘ANKABŪT

Ayah : 18

And if you [people] deny [the message] already nations before you have denied. And there is not upon the Messenger except [the duty of] clear notification.[1]

1- Commentators have differed over this verse whether it is a continuation of the words of Prophet Abraham or words of comfort given by AllŒh to Prophet Muúammad (), which according to context seems more likely.

Surah: AR-RŪM

Ayah : 30

So direct your face [i.e., self] toward the religion, inclining to truth. [Adhere to] the fi‹rah[1] of AllŒh upon which He has created [all] people. No change should there be in the creation of AllŒh.[2] That is the correct religion, but most of the people do not know.

1- The natural inborn inclination of man to worship his Creator prior to the corruption of his nature by external influences. Thus, IslŒmic monotheism is described as the religion of fi‹rah that of the inherent nature of mankind.
2- i.e., let people remain true to their fi‹rah within the religion of IslŒm.

Surah: AL‑AḤZĀB

Ayah : 1

O Prophet, fear AllŒh and do not obey the disbelievers and the hypocrites. Indeed, AllŒh is ever Knowing and Wise.

Surah: AL‑AḤZĀB

Ayah : 2

And follow that which is revealed to you from your Lord. Indeed AllŒh is ever, of what you do, Aware.

Surah: AL‑AḤZĀB

Ayah : 38

There is not to be upon the Prophet any discomfort concerning that which AllŒh has imposed upon him.[1] [This is] the established way of AllŒh with those [prophets] who have passed on before. And ever is the command of AllŒh a destiny decreed.

1- Or permitted to him.

Surah: AL‑AḤZĀB

Ayah : 47

And give good tidings to the believers that they will have from AllŒh great bounty.

Surah: AL‑AḤZĀB

Ayah : 48

And do not obey the disbelievers and the hypocrites and disregard their annoyance, and rely upon AllŒh. And sufficient is AllŒh as Disposer of affairs.

Surah: FĀṬIR

Ayah : 23

You, [O Muúammad], are not but a warner.

Surah: ṢĀD

Ayah : 86

Say, [O Muúammad], "I do not ask you for it [i.e., the QurÕŒn] any payment, and I am not of the pretentious.

Surah: GHĀFIR

Ayah : 55

So be patient, [O Muúammad]. Indeed, the promise of AllŒh is truth. And ask forgiveness for your sin[1] and exalt [AllŒh] with praise of your Lord in the evening and the morning.

1- What is intended is "fault" or "error" in judgement, since all prophets were protected by AllŒh from falling into sin. The implication is that all believers should seek forgiveness for their sins.

Surah: ASH-SHŪRĀ

Ayah : 15

So to that [religion of AllŒh] invite, [O Muúammad],[1] and remain on a right course as you are commanded and do not follow their inclinations but say, "I have believed in what AllŒh has revealed of scripture [i.e., the QurÕŒn], and I have been commanded to do justice among you. AllŒh is our Lord and your Lord. For us are our deeds, and for you your deeds.[2] There is no [need for] argument between us and you.[3] AllŒh will bring us together, and to Him is the [final] destination."

1- Another meaning understood from the Arabic is "So because of that [division and separation into sects], invite [them back to AllŒh]..."
2- i.e., the consequences thereof.
3- Since the truth has been made clear and since those who refuse it do so only out of stubbornness or worldly interests.

Surah: ASH-SHŪRĀ

Ayah : 23

It is that of which AllŒh gives good tidings to His servants who believe and do righteous deeds. Say, [O Muúammad], "I do not ask you for it [i.e., this message] any payment [but] only good will through [i.e., due to] kinship." And whoever commits a good deed We will increase for him good therein. Indeed, AllŒh is Forgiving and Appreciative.[1]

1- See footnote in 35:30.

Surah: ASH-SHŪRĀ

Ayah : 48

But if they turn away then We have not sent you, [O Muúammad], over them as a guardian; upon you is only [the duty of] notification. And indeed, when We let man taste mercy from Us, he rejoices in it; but if evil afflicts him for what his hands have put forth, then indeed, man is ungrateful.

Surah: AL‑JĀTHIYAH

Ayah : 18

Then We put you, [O Muúammad], on an ordained way concerning the matter [of religion]; so follow it and do not follow the inclinations of those who do not know.

Surah: AL‑AḤQĀF

Ayah : 35

So be patient, [O Muúammad], as were those of determination among the messengers and do not be impatient for them.[1] It will be on the Day they see that which they are promised as though they had not remained [in the world] except an hour of a day. [This is] notification. And will [any] be destroyed except the defiantly disobedient people?

1- i.e., for AllŒh's punishment of the disbelievers.

Surah: QĀF

Ayah : 39

So be patient, [O Muúammad], over what they say and exalt [AllŒh] with praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting,
