Surah: AL‑MĀ’IDAH

Ayah : 115

AllŒh said, "Indeed, I will send it down to you, but whoever disbelieves afterwards from among you then indeed will I punish him with a punishment by which I have not punished anyone among the worlds."

Surah: AL‑MĀ’IDAH

Ayah : 116

And [beware the Day] when AllŒh will say, "O Jesus, Son of Mary, did you say to the people, 'Take me and my mother as deities besides AllŒh?'" He will say, "Exalted are You! It was not for me to say that to which I have no right. If I had said it, You would have known it. You know what is within myself, and I do not know what is within Yourself. Indeed, it is You who is Knower of the unseen.

Surah: AL‑MĀ’IDAH

Ayah : 117

I said not to them except what You commanded me to worship AllŒh, my Lord and your Lord. And I was a witness over them as long as I was among them; but when You took me up, You were the Observer over them, and You are, over all things, Witness.

Surah: AL‑MĀ’IDAH

Ayah : 118

If You should punish them indeed they are Your servants; but if You forgive them indeed it is You who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise."

Surah: MARYAM

Ayah : 19

He said, "I am only the messenger of your Lord to give you [news of] a pure boy [i.e., son]."

Surah: MARYAM

Ayah : 20

She said, "How can I have a boy while no man has touched me and I have not been unchaste?"

Surah: MARYAM

Ayah : 21

He said, "Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to the people and a mercy from Us. And it is a matter [already] decreed.'"

Surah: MARYAM

Ayah : 22

So she conceived him, and she withdrew with him to a remote place.

Surah: MARYAM

Ayah : 23

And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She said, "Oh, I wish I had died before this and was in oblivion, forgotten."

Surah: MARYAM

Ayah : 24

But he[1] called her from below her, "Do not grieve; your Lord has provided beneath you a stream.

1- There is a difference of opinion among scholars as to whether "he" refers to the baby or to the angel.

Surah: MARYAM

Ayah : 25

And shake toward you the trunk of the palm tree; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates.

Surah: MARYAM

Ayah : 26

So eat and drink and be contented. And if you see from among humanity anyone, say, 'Indeed, I have vowed to the Most Merciful abstention, so I will not speak today to [any] man.'"

Surah: MARYAM

Ayah : 27

Then she brought him to her people, carrying him. They said, "O Mary, you have certainly done a thing unprecedented.

Surah: MARYAM

Ayah : 28

O sister [i.e., descendant] of Aaron, your father was not a man of evil, nor was your mother unchaste."

Surah: MARYAM

Ayah : 29

So she pointed to him. They said, "How can we speak to one who is in the cradle a child?"

Surah: MARYAM

Ayah : 30

[Jesus] said, "Indeed, I am the servant of AllŒh. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet.

Surah: MARYAM

Ayah : 31

And He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined upon me prayer and zakŒh as long as I remain alive

Surah: MARYAM

Ayah : 32

And [made me] dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant.

Surah: MARYAM

Ayah : 33

And peace is on me the day I was born and the day I will die and the day I am raised alive."

Surah: MARYAM

Ayah : 34

That is Jesus, the son of Mary the word of truth about which they are in dispute.

Surah: MARYAM

Ayah : 35

It is not [befitting] for AllŒh to take a son; exalted is He![1] When He decrees an affair, He only says to it, "Be," and it is.

1- i.e., far removed is He from any such need.

Surah: MARYAM

Ayah : 36

[Jesus said], "And indeed, AllŒh is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is a straight path."

Surah: MARYAM

Ayah : 37

Then the factions differed [concerning Jesus] from among them, so woe to those who disbelieved from the scene of a tremendous Day.

Surah: AL‑MU’MINŪN

Ayah : 50

And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and sheltered them within a high ground having level [areas] and flowing water.

Surah: AZ-ZUKHRUF

Ayah : 57

And when the son of Mary was presented as an example,[1] immediately your people laughed aloud.

1- Of a creation of AllŒh which is being worshipped along with Him.

Surah: AZ-ZUKHRUF

Ayah : 58

And they said, "Are our gods better, or is he?"[1] They did not present it [i.e., the comparison] except for [mere] argument. But, [in fact], they are a people prone to dispute.

1- Implying that they must all be the same.

Surah: AZ-ZUKHRUF

Ayah : 59

He [i.e., Jesus] was not but a servant upon whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the Children of Israel.

Surah: AZ-ZUKHRUF

Ayah : 60

And if We willed, We could have made [instead] of you angels succeeding [one another][1] on the earth.

1- Or "succeeding [you]."

Surah: AZ-ZUKHRUF

Ayah : 61

And indeed, he [i.e., Jesus] will be [a sign for] knowledge of the Hour, so be not in doubt of it, and follow Me.[1] This is a straight path.

1- i.e., follow the guidance and instruction of AllŒh.

Surah: AZ-ZUKHRUF

Ayah : 62

And never let Satan avert you. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.
