Surah: ASH-SHU‘ARĀ’

Ayah : 134

And gardens and springs.

Surah: ASH-SHU‘ARĀ’

Ayah : 135

Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day."

Surah: ASH-SHU‘ARĀ’

Ayah : 136

They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors.

Surah: ASH-SHU‘ARĀ’

Ayah : 137

This is not but the custom of the former peoples,

Surah: ASH-SHU‘ARĀ’

Ayah : 138

And we are not to be punished."

Surah: ASH-SHU‘ARĀ’

Ayah : 139

And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

Surah: ASH-SHU‘ARĀ’

Ayah : 140

And indeed, your Lord He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

Surah: AL‑‘ANKABŪT

Ayah : 38

And [We destroyed] ÔAad and Tham´d, and it has become clear to you from their [ruined] dwellings. And Satan had made pleasing to them their deeds and averted them from the path, and they were endowed with perception.

Surah: FUṢṢILAT

Ayah : 15

As for ÔAad, they were arrogant upon the earth without right and said, "Who is greater than us in strength?" Did they not consider that AllŒh who created them was greater than them in strength? But they were rejecting Our signs.

Surah: FUṢṢILAT

Ayah : 16

So We sent upon them a screaming wind during days of misfortune to make them taste the punishment of disgrace in the worldly life; but the punishment of the Hereafter is more disgracing, and they will not be helped.

Surah: AL‑AḤQĀF

Ayah : 21

And mention, [O Muúammad], the brother of ÔAad,[1] when he warned his people in [the region of] al-AúqŒf and warners had already passed on before him and after him [saying], "Do not worship except AllŒh. Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day."[2]

1- i.e., the prophet H´d.
2- Upon the earth. It could also refer to "a tremendous Day," i.e., that of resurrection.

Surah: AL‑AḤQĀF

Ayah : 22

They said, "Have you come to delude us away from our gods? Then bring us what you promise us, if you should be of the truthful."

Surah: AL‑AḤQĀF

Ayah : 23

He said, "Knowledge [of its time] is only with AllŒh, and I convey to you that with which I was sent; but I see you [to be] a people behaving ignorantly."

Surah: AL‑AḤQĀF

Ayah : 24

And when they saw it as a cloud approaching their valleys, they said, "This is a cloud bringing us rain!" Rather, it is that for which you were impatient:[1] a wind, within it a painful punishment,

1- When you challenged your prophet. See verse 22 of this s´rah.

Surah: AL‑AḤQĀF

Ayah : 25

Destroying everything by command of its Lord. And they became so that nothing was seen [of them] except their dwellings. Thus do We recompense the criminal people.

Surah: AL‑AḤQĀF

Ayah : 26

And We had certainly established them in such as We have not established you, and We made for them hearing and vision and hearts [i.e., intellect]. But their hearing and vision and hearts availed them not from anything [of the punishment] when they were [continually] rejecting the signs of AllŒh; and they were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.

Surah: ADH-DHĀRIYĀT

Ayah : 41

And in ÔAad [was a sign], when We sent against them the barren wind.[1]

1- Barren of any benefit, i.e., evil.

Surah: ADH-DHĀRIYĀT

Ayah : 42

It left nothing of what it came upon but that it made it like disintegrated ruins.

Surah: AL‑QAMAR

Ayah : 18

ÔAad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning.

Surah: AL‑QAMAR

Ayah : 19

Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune,

Surah: AL‑QAMAR

Ayah : 20

Extracting the people[1] as if they were trunks of palm trees uprooted.

1- From their hiding places.

Surah: AL‑QAMAR

Ayah : 21

And how [severe] were My punishment and warning.

Surah: AL‑ḤĀQQAH

Ayah : 4

Tham´d and ÔAad denied the Striking Calamity [i.e., the Resurrection].

Surah: AL‑ḤĀQQAH

Ayah : 6

And as for ÔAad, they were destroyed by a screaming,[1] violent wind

1- Or "cold."

Surah: AL‑FAJR

Ayah : 6

Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with ÔAad

Surah: AL‑FAJR

Ayah : 7

[With] Iram[1] - who had lofty pillars,[2]

1- Another name for the first people of ÔAad, to whom Prophet H´d was sent.
2- Supporting their tents or buildings.

Surah: AL‑FAJR

Ayah : 8

The likes of whom had never been created in the land?
