Women in the Quran

The Holy Quran includes a Surah entitled An-Nisaa ( the women ) and another Surah entitled At-Talaq ( the divorce ) it is known as the short Surah of women because it handles the women affair, and a Surah entitled Mary peace be upon her. The holy Quran mentioned Mary in thirty-three positions, it discussed the specific conditions of women in the Surahs Al-Baqarah ( the cow ), Al-Mujadila ( the pleading woman ), Al-Mumtahana ( she that is to be examined ) and other Surahs.

The Holy Quran guarantees all the rights of women. It commands to treat women honorably
It commands man to be kind to his mother, daughter and wife

Honoring the women and considering their status and circumstances is manifested in many rules of the Islamic legislation, including:

• Islam stipulated that man pays a dowry for his wife, and gave the woman the right to inherit her husband just after the marriage contract.
• Islam forbade concluding the marriage without the consent of the guardian of the woman and the presence of the witnesses so as to ward off the accusation of committing unlawful sex.
• Islam imposed a penalty on the one who accuses a woman of committing unlawful sex without evidence, in order to deter any baseless accusation.
• Islam considers the one who is killed for the sake of defending his honor as a martyr; this virtue raised the status of women.

Do you know the most deserving among people of your good treatment??

It is your mother.

The mother has a unique status. Therefore, Allah the Almighty said ( interpretation of the meaning ): { And We have enjoined upon man [care] for his parents. His mother carried him, [increasing her] in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning is in two years. Be grateful to Me and to your parents; to Me is the [final] destination. } Quran ( 31:14 ). He enjoined upon man to take care of his parents together; but he singled out the mother by mentioning her biological, psychological and educational function; therefore, she is privileged over the father.

Allah the Almighty said ( interpretation of the meaning ): { And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates that you may find tranquillity in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy. Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought.} Quran ( 30:21 ).

When the Quran descended upon the Prophet Muhammad, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, the Arabs used to bury the females few years after their birth. However, the Quran protected the rights of women please read the verse ( interpretation of the meaning ) : { And due to the wives is similar to what is expected of them, according to what is reasonable. } Quran ( 2:228 ) and { And their Lord responded to them, "Never will I allow to be lost the work of [any] worker among you, whether male or female; you are of one another.} Quran ( 3:195 ).

Islam legislated noble teachings. It taught man to his fellow human beings and taught him not to violate the sanctity of the others. One of the most objectives of Islam is to preserve the honor. The Shari'a blocked all the excuses and methods that lead to dishonor people; Islam ordered women to wear the Hijab, ordered both men and women to lower the gaze and forbade all of them from seclusion. Allah the almighty said ( interpretation of the meaning ) : { Tell the believing men to reduce [some] of their vision and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what they do.} Quran ( 24:30 )

{ And do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse. Indeed, it is ever an immorality and is evil as a way. } Quran ( 14:32 ).

In order to preserve the women honor and dignity, Islam forbade touching a woman unless she is one`s wife.

The Quran reveals to us that the mother of Mary pledged her to Allah when she was pregnant and when she gave birth to her. The Holy Quran says about the woman of Imran:

The Holy Quran tells us the story of Mary the virgin when she gave birth to the prophet Jesus, and how she was a decent woman who was not touched by a human being. Allah absolved her of every flaw.

Allah the almighty said ( interpretation of the meaning ) : { And mention, [O Muhammad], in the Book [the story of] Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place toward the east. And she took, in seclusion from them, a screen. Then We sent to her Our Angel, and he represented himself to her as a well-proportioned man. She said, "Indeed, I seek refuge in the Most Merciful from you, [so leave me], if you should be fearing of Allah ." He said, "I am only the messenger of your Lord to give you [news of] a pure boy." She said, "How can I have a boy while no man has touched me and I have not been unchaste?" He said, "Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to the people and a mercy from Us. And it is a matter [already] decreed.' " So she conceived him, and she withdrew with him to a remote place. And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She said, "Oh, I wish I had died before this and was in oblivion, forgotten." But he called her from below her, "Do not grieve; your Lord has provided beneath you a stream. And shake toward you the trunk of the palm tree; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates. So eat and drink and be contented. And if you see from among humanity anyone, say, 'Indeed, I have vowed to the Most Merciful abstention, so I will not speak today to [any] man.' Then she brought him to her people, carrying him. They said, "O Mary, you have certainly done a thing unprecedented. O sister of Aaron, your father was not a man of evil, nor was your mother unchaste." So she pointed to him. They said, "How can we speak to one who is in the cradle a child?" [Jesus] said, "Indeed, I am the servant of Allah . He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet. And He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined upon me prayer and zakah as long as I remain alive And [made me] dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant. And peace is on me the day I was born and the day I will die and the day I am raised alive." That is Jesus, the son of Mary - the word of truth about which they are in dispute. } Quran ( 19: 16 - 34 )

Mary the supporter of truth. It is a unique description of Mary. Allah the almighty said ( interpretation of the meaning ) : { The Messiah, son of Mary, was not but a messenger; [other] messengers have passed on before him. And his mother was a supporter of truth. They both used to eat food.  } Quran ( 5:75 ).

It is an exaggeration to affirm her sincerity of faith and belief in Allah Almighty. Her son the Christ came with a great message that fills the earth with justice and light

For centuries women have been accused of being the cause of Adam's exodus from the paradise. They are easy to seduce, light-minded, slip easily. This belief was not in doubt until the Quran was revealed

Allah the almighty said ( interpretation of the meaning ) : { But Satan caused them to slip out of it and removed them from that [condition] in which they had been. And We said, "Go down, [all of you], as enemies to one another, and you will have upon the earth a place of settlement and provision for a time." } Quran ( 2: 36 ). Satan tempted both men and women.

Islam considers that the Equality in guilt entails the equality in punishment

There are many novels and legends of love, but they were in the drama, where the followers experience moments of romance and then return to the ordinary life .. But we are in front of the story of a man who loved his wife until the last moment of his life while reclining his head on his wife.

He is the Messenger of Allah Muhammad may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. `Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, said, "The Prophet ( may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him ) died in my house on the day of my turn while he was leaning on my chest closer to my neck, and Allah made my saliva mix with his Saliva."

Allah urges us to treat our wives honorably, to avoid oppressing and abusing them and not to demand from them what is beyond their capacity

In the Islamic prospective the rights of the woman are protected even after the divorce, the husband is ordered to release her graciously and to avoid harming or even abusing her.

Allah and His Messenger enjoined men to take care of women regardless of their degrees of closeness.

Man is enjoined to guard his daughters and sisters: Abu Sa'eed Al-Khudri, may Allah be pleased with them, narrated that :

the Messenger of Allah, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Whoever has three daughters, or three sisters, or two daughters, or two sisters and he keeps good company with them and fears Allah regarding them, then Paradise is for him.

Allah the almighty said ( interpretation of the meaning ) : { And We have enjoined upon man, to his parents, good treatment. } Quran ( 46: 15 )

{ And live with them in kindness } Quran ( 4: 19 ).

The Messenger of Allah, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, commanded us to treat women kindly.

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:

Messenger of Allah, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said: "Take my advice with regard to women: Act kindly towards women…

The Prophet Muhammad ( may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him ) commanded men to treat the women gently.

The Prophet ( may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) likened women to the vessels of glass because of their soft and gentle nature.

Woman is weak by nature. She needs special treatment that meets this nature, respects her feelings, treats her with softness and benevolence, with neither harming nor hurting her feelings, nor verbally abusing her. It is just the good treatment.

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that:

the Prophet ( may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him ) said: "The best of you is the one who is best to his wife, and I am the best of you to my wives."

A man who is merciful to his wife, spares no effort to protect her and spends his money on her, is the best of men, it is a unique status.

Allah said ( interpretation of the meaning ) : { And do not wish for that by which Allah has made some of you exceed others. For men is a share of what they have earned, and for women is a share of what they have earned. And ask Allah of his bounty. Indeed Allah is ever, of all things, Knowing. } Quran ( 4 : 32 )

A woman is like a vessel that must be handled with care and gently, even if she divorced, man must not break her heart.

Allah said ( interpretation of the meaning ) : { Divorce is twice. Then, either keep [her] in an acceptable manner or release [her] with good treatment. And it is not lawful for you to take anything of what you have given them unless both fear that they will not be able to keep [within] the limits of Allah . But if you fear that they will not keep [within] the limits of Allah, then there is no blame upon either of them concerning that by which she ransoms herself. These are the limits of Allah, so do not transgress them. And whoever transgresses the limits of Allah - it is those who are the wrongdoers. } Quran ( 4 : 229 )

God urged women to cover up and so as to protect them from physical or psychological harm

Allah said ( interpretation of the meaning ) : { O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful. } Quran ( 33 : 59 )

In the Qur'an, God forbade injustice and revenge against the woman, the man must not leave her hanging; not married, or divorced.

Allah said ( interpretation of the meaning ) : { And you will never be able to be equal [in feeling] between wives, even if you should strive [to do so]. So do not incline completely [toward one] and leave another hanging. And if you amend [your affairs] and fear Allah - then indeed, Allah is ever Forgiving and Merciful. } Quran ( 4 : 129 )

God commanded the man to provide housing and expenses for his wife, even if he divorced his wife while she was pregnant, he is required to provide the due expenses for her until she gives birth to his baby and weans it.

Allah said ( interpretation of the meaning ) : { Lodge them [in a section] of where you dwell out of your means and do not harm them in order to oppress them. And if they should be pregnant, then spend on them until they give birth. And if they breastfeed for you, then give them their payment and confer among yourselves in the acceptable way; but if you are in discord, then there may breastfeed for the father another woman. } Quran ( 65 : 6 )
