Surata: AZ-ZALZALAH 

O versículo : 2

وَأَخۡرَجَتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ أَثۡقَالَهَا

And the earth discharges its burdens[1]


1- See verse 84:4


Surata: AZ-ZALZALAH 

O versículo : 3

وَقَالَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مَا لَهَا

And man says,[1] "What is [wrong] with it?" -


1- In terror and amazement.


Surata: AZ-ZALZALAH 

O versículo : 4

يَوۡمَئِذٖ تُحَدِّثُ أَخۡبَارَهَا

That Day, it will report its news



Surata: AZ-ZALZALAH 

O versículo : 5

بِأَنَّ رَبَّكَ أَوۡحَىٰ لَهَا

Because your Lord has inspired [i.e., commanded] it.



Surata: AZ-ZALZALAH 

O versículo : 6

يَوۡمَئِذٖ يَصۡدُرُ ٱلنَّاسُ أَشۡتَاتٗا لِّيُرَوۡاْ أَعۡمَٰلَهُمۡ

That Day, the people will depart[1] separated [into categories] to be shown [the result of] their deeds.


1- From the place of Judgement to their final abode. Another interpretation is "emerge separately" (from the graves).


Surata: AZ-ZALZALAH 

O versículo : 7

فَمَن يَعۡمَلۡ مِثۡقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيۡرٗا يَرَهُۥ

So whoever does an atom's weight[1] of good will see it,


1- Or "the weight of a small ant."


Surata: AZ-ZALZALAH 

O versículo : 8

وَمَن يَعۡمَلۡ مِثۡقَالَ ذَرَّةٖ شَرّٗا يَرَهُۥ

And whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it.



Surata: AL‑‘AADIYĀT 

O versículo : 9

۞أَفَلَا يَعۡلَمُ إِذَا بُعۡثِرَ مَا فِي ٱلۡقُبُورِ

But does he not know that when the contents of the graves are scattered



Surata: AL‑‘AADIYĀT 

O versículo : 10

وَحُصِّلَ مَا فِي ٱلصُّدُورِ

And that within the breasts is obtained,[1]


1- i.e., when all secrets are made known.


Surata: AL‑‘AADIYĀT 

O versículo : 11

إِنَّ رَبَّهُم بِهِمۡ يَوۡمَئِذٖ لَّخَبِيرُۢ

Indeed, their Lord with them, that Day, is [fully] Aware.[1]


1- Fully acquainted and familiar with everything about each one of them.


Surata: AL‑QĀRI‘AH 

O versículo : 1

ٱلۡقَارِعَةُ

The Striking Calamity



Surata: AL‑QĀRI‘AH 

O versículo : 2

مَا ٱلۡقَارِعَةُ

What is the Striking Calamity?



Surata: AL‑QĀRI‘AH 

O versículo : 3

وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلۡقَارِعَةُ

And what can make you know what is the Striking Calamity?



Surata: AL‑QĀRI‘AH 

O versículo : 4

يَوۡمَ يَكُونُ ٱلنَّاسُ كَٱلۡفَرَاشِ ٱلۡمَبۡثُوثِ

It is the Day when people will be like moths, dispersed,[1]


1- The people will be as such after having been expelled from their graves.


Surata: AL‑QĀRI‘AH 

O versículo : 5

وَتَكُونُ ٱلۡجِبَالُ كَٱلۡعِهۡنِ ٱلۡمَنفُوشِ

And the mountains will be like wool, fluffed up.[1]


1- i.e., beginning to disintegrate.


Surata: AL‑QĀRI‘AH 

O versículo : 6

فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتۡ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ

Then as for one whose scales are heavy [with good deeds],



Surata: AL‑QĀRI‘AH 

O versículo : 7

فَهُوَ فِي عِيشَةٖ رَّاضِيَةٖ

He will be in a pleasant life.



Surata: AL‑QĀRI‘AH 

O versículo : 8

وَأَمَّا مَنۡ خَفَّتۡ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ

But as for one whose scales are light,



Surata: AL‑QĀRI‘AH 

O versículo : 9

فَأُمُّهُۥ هَاوِيَةٞ

His refuge[1] will be an abyss.[2]


1- Literally, "mother" (a man's original refuge) , which will envelop him as in an embrace.
2- i.e., the pit of Hellfire.


Surata: AL‑QĀRI‘AH 

O versículo : 10

وَمَآ أَدۡرَىٰكَ مَا هِيَهۡ

And what can make you know what that is?



Surata: AL‑QĀRI‘AH 

O versículo : 11

نَارٌ حَامِيَةُۢ

It is a Fire, intensely hot.
