And indeed this, your religion, is one religion,[1] and I am your Lord, so fear Me."
1- See footnote to 21:92.
And indeed, you invite them to a straight path.
We have certainly sent down distinct verses. And AllŒh guides whom He wills to a straight path.
So direct your face [i.e., self] toward the religion, inclining to truth. [Adhere to] the fi‹rah[1] of AllŒh upon which He has created [all] people. No change should there be in the creation of AllŒh.[2] That is the correct religion, but most of the people do not know.
1- The natural inborn inclination of man to worship his Creator prior to the corruption of his nature by external influences. Thus, IslŒmic monotheism is described as the religion of fi‹rah – that of the inherent nature of mankind.
2- i.e., let people remain true to their fi‹rah within the religion of IslŒm.
So direct your face [i.e., self] toward the correct religion before a Day comes from AllŒh of which there is no repelling. That Day, they will be divided.[1]
1- Into those destined for Paradise and those destined for Hell.
On a straight path.
And that you worship [only] Me? This is a straight path.
And return [in repentance] to your Lord and submit to Him before the punishment comes upon you; then you will not be helped.
And who is better in speech than one who invites to AllŒh and does righteousness and says, "Indeed, I am of the Muslims."
He has ordained for you of religion what He enjoined upon Noah and that which We have revealed to you, [O Muúammad], and what We enjoined upon Abraham and Moses and Jesus – to establish the religion and not be divided therein. Difficult for those who associate others with AllŒh is that to which you invite them. AllŒh chooses for Himself whom He wills and guides to Himself whoever turns back [to Him].
The path of AllŒh, to whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Unquestionably, to AllŒh do [all] matters evolve [i.e., return].
So adhere to that which is revealed to you. Indeed, you are on a straight path.
And indeed, he [i.e., Jesus] will be [a sign for] knowledge of the Hour, so be not in doubt of it, and follow Me.[1] This is a straight path.
1- i.e., follow the guidance and instruction of AllŒh.
And when Jesus brought clear proofs, he said, "I have come to you with wisdom [i.e., prophethood] and to make clear to you some of that over which you differ, so fear AllŒh and obey me.
That AllŒh may forgive for you what preceded of your sin [i.e., errors] and what will follow and complete His favor upon you and guide you to a straight path
AllŒh has promised you much booty that you will take [in the future] and has hastened for you this [victory] and withheld the hands of people from you – that it may be a sign for the believers and [that] He may guide you to a straight path.
It is He who sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to manifest it over all religion. And sufficient is AllŒh as Witness.
It is He who sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to manifest it over all religion, although those who associate others with AllŒh dislike it.
Then is one who walks fallen on his face better guided or one who walks erect on a straight path?
And when we heard the guidance [i.e., the QurÕŒn], we believed in it. And whoever believes in his Lord will not fear deprivation or burden.[1]
1- In regard to his account in the Hereafter. Nothing of his good will be diminished, nor will the evil of another be placed upon him.
And they were not commanded except to worship AllŒh, [being] sincere to Him in religion, inclining to truth, and to establish prayer and to give zakŒh. And that is the correct religion.
