Capítulo: AL‑BAQARAH

Verso : 169

He only orders you to evil and immorality and to say about AllŒh what you do not know.

Capítulo: ĀLI ‘IMRĀN

Verso : 30

The Day every soul will find what it has done of good present [before it] and what it has done of evil, it will wish that between itself and that [evil] was a great distance. And AllŒh warns you of Himself, and AllŒh is Kind to [His] servants."

Capítulo: AN-NISĀ’

Verso : 22

And do not marry those [women] whom your fathers married, except what has already occurred.[1] Indeed, it was an immorality and hateful [to AllŒh] and was evil as a way.

1- Before IslŒm. After the ruling was revealed by AllŒh, men were required to release those women unlawful to them (e.g., a stepmother, one of two sisters, or any wives over the limit of four). The same obligation applies to one once he has accepted IslŒm.

Capítulo: AN-NISĀ’

Verso : 79

What comes to you of good is from AllŒh, but what comes to you of evil, [O man], is from yourself.[1] And We have sent you, [O Muúammad], to the people as a messenger, and sufficient is AllŒh as Witness.[2]

1- As a result of your mistakes or sins.
2- i.e., never absent, always seeing and having complete knowledge of everything within His dominion.

Capítulo: AN-NISĀ’

Verso : 84

So fight, [O Muúammad], in the cause of AllŒh; you are not held responsible except for yourself. And encourage the believers [to join you] that perhaps AllŒh will restrain the [military] might of those who disbelieve. And AllŒh is greater in might and stronger in [exemplary] punishment.[1]

1- AllŒh is able to defeat them in such a way as to deter others from attempting anything similar.

Capítulo: AN-NISĀ’

Verso : 148

AllŒh does not like the public mention of evil except by one who has been wronged. And ever is AllŒh Hearing and Knowing.

Capítulo: AL‑AN‘ĀM

Verso : 31

Those will have lost who deny the meeting with AllŒh, until when the Hour [of resurrection] comes upon them unexpectedly, they will say, "Oh, [how great is] our regret over what we neglected concerning it [i.e., the Hour]," while they bear their burdens [i.e., sins] on their backs. Unquestionably, evil is that which they bear.

Capítulo: AT-TAWBAH

Verso : 9

They have exchanged the signs of AllŒh for a small price and averted [people] from His way. Indeed, it was evil that they were doing.

Capítulo: AT-TAWBAH

Verso : 98

And among the bedouins are some who consider what they spend as a loss[1] and await for you turns of misfortune. Upon them will be a misfortune of evil. And AllŒh is Hearing and Knowing.

1- i.e., a fine or penalty.

Capítulo: YŪNUS

Verso : 11

And if AllŒh was to hasten for the people the evil [they invoke][1] as He hastens for them the good, their term would have been ended for them.[2] But We leave the ones who do not expect the meeting with Us, in their transgression, wandering blindly.

1- In anger or in heedlessness.
2- i.e., AllŒh would have destroyed them on account of that.

Capítulo: HŪD

Verso : 114

And establish prayer at the two ends of the day and at the approach of the night. Indeed, good deeds do away with misdeeds. That is a reminder for those who remember.

Capítulo: YŪSUF

Verso : 53

And I do not acquit myself. Indeed, the soul is a persistent enjoiner of evil, except those upon which my Lord has mercy. Indeed, my Lord is Forgiving and Merciful."[1]

1- Although Ibn Katheer attributes the words of verses 52-53 to the wife of al-ÔAzeez, others have concluded that they were spoken by Joseph, thereby justifying his request for an inquiry and acknowledging AllŒh's mercy to him.

Capítulo: IBRĀHEEM

Verso : 26

And the example of a bad word is like a bad tree, uprooted from the surface of the earth, not having any stability.

Capítulo: AN-NAḤL

Verso : 25

That they may bear their own burdens [i.e., sins] in full on the Day of Resurrection and some of the burdens of those whom they misguide without [i.e., by lack of] knowledge. Unquestionably, evil is that which they bear.

Capítulo: AL‑ISRĀ’

Verso : 10

And that those who do not believe in the Hereafter We have prepared for them a painful punishment.

Capítulo: AL‑ISRĀ’

Verso : 32

And do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse.[1] Indeed, it is ever an immorality and is evil as a way.

1- i.e., avoid all situations that might possibly lead to it.

Capítulo: AL‑ISRĀ’

Verso : 38

All that [i.e., the aforementioned] its evil is ever, in the sight of your Lord, detested.

Capítulo: AL‑ISRĀ’

Verso : 83

And when We bestow favor upon man [i.e., the disbeliever], he turns away and distances himself; and when evil touches him, he is ever despairing.

Capítulo: AL‑ANBIYĀ’

Verso : 35

Every soul will taste death. And We test you with evil and with good as trial; and to Us you will be returned.

Capítulo: AL‑MU’MINŪN

Verso : 96

Repel, by [means of] what is best, [their] evil. We are most knowing of what they describe.

Capítulo: AR-RŪM

Verso : 36

And when We let the people taste mercy, they rejoice therein, but if evil afflicts them for what their hands have put forth, immediately they despair.

Capítulo: FĀṬIR

Verso : 43

[Due to] arrogance in the land and plotting of evil; but the evil plot does not encompass except its own people. Then do they await except the way [i.e., fate] of the former peoples? But you will never find in the way [i.e., established method] of AllŒh any change, and you will never find in the way of AllŒh[1] any alteration.[2]

1- i.e., in His punishment of those who deny the prophets.
2- Or "transfer" of punishment to others in place of them.

Capítulo: FUṢṢILAT

Verso : 34

And not equal are the good deed and the bad. Repel [evil] by that [deed] which is better; and thereupon, the one whom between you and him is enmity [will become] as though he was a devoted friend.

Capítulo: AZ-ZALZALAH

Verso : 8

And whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it.

Capítulo: AL‑FALAQ

Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak

Capítulo: AL‑FALAQ

Verso : 2

From the evil of that which He created

Capítulo: AL‑FALAQ

And from the evil of darkness when it settles

Capítulo: AL‑FALAQ

And from the evil of the blowers in knots[1]

1- i.e., those who practice magic.

Capítulo: AL‑FALAQ

Verso : 5

And from the evil of an envier when he envies."

Capítulo: AN-NĀS

Verso : 1

Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind,
