اللَّيۡلِ Al-Layl 1 الآية :

وَٱلَّيۡلِ إِذَا يَغۡشَىٰ

By the night when it covers[1]

1- With darkness.

اللَّيۡلِ Al-Layl 2 الآية :

وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّىٰ

And [by] the day when it appears

اللَّيۡلِ Al-Layl 3 الآية :

وَمَا خَلَقَ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلۡأُنثَىٰٓ

And [by] He who created the male and female,

اللَّيۡلِ Al-Layl 4 الآية :

إِنَّ سَعۡيَكُمۡ لَشَتَّىٰ

Indeed, your efforts are diverse.

اللَّيۡلِ Al-Layl 5 الآية :

فَأَمَّا مَنۡ أَعۡطَىٰ وَٱتَّقَىٰ

As for he who gives and fears AllŒh

اللَّيۡلِ Al-Layl 6 الآية :

وَصَدَّقَ بِٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ

And believes in the best [reward],

اللَّيۡلِ Al-Layl 7 الآية :

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلۡيُسۡرَىٰ

We will ease him toward ease.

اللَّيۡلِ Al-Layl 8 الآية :

وَأَمَّا مَنۢ بَخِلَ وَٱسۡتَغۡنَىٰ

But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need

اللَّيۡلِ Al-Layl 9 الآية :

وَكَذَّبَ بِٱلۡحُسۡنَىٰ

And denies the best [reward],

اللَّيۡلِ Al-Layl 10 الآية :

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلۡعُسۡرَىٰ

We will ease him toward difficulty.

اللَّيۡلِ Al-Layl 11 الآية :

وَمَا يُغۡنِي عَنۡهُ مَالُهُۥٓ إِذَا تَرَدَّىٰٓ

And what will his wealth avail him when he falls?[1]

1- i.e., when he dies or is destroyed. It can also mean when he falls into the Hellfire.

اللَّيۡلِ Al-Layl 12 الآية :

إِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا لَلۡهُدَىٰ

Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance.

اللَّيۡلِ Al-Layl 13 الآية :

وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلۡأٓخِرَةَ وَٱلۡأُولَىٰ

And indeed, to us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life].

اللَّيۡلِ Al-Layl 14 الآية :

فَأَنذَرۡتُكُمۡ نَارٗا تَلَظَّىٰ

So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing.

اللَّيۡلِ Al-Layl 15 الآية :

لَا يَصۡلَىٰهَآ إِلَّا ٱلۡأَشۡقَى

None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one

اللَّيۡلِ Al-Layl 16 الآية :

ٱلَّذِي كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ

Who had denied and turned away.

اللَّيۡلِ Al-Layl 17 الآية :

وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا ٱلۡأَتۡقَى

But the righteous one will avoid it

اللَّيۡلِ Al-Layl 18 الآية :

ٱلَّذِي يُؤۡتِي مَالَهُۥ يَتَزَكَّىٰ

[He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself

اللَّيۡلِ Al-Layl 19 الآية :

وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُۥ مِن نِّعۡمَةٖ تُجۡزَىٰٓ

And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded[1]

1- i.e., without intending reciprocation for some benefit to himself.

اللَّيۡلِ Al-Layl 20 الآية :

إِلَّا ٱبۡتِغَآءَ وَجۡهِ رَبِّهِ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ

But only seeking the face [i.e., acceptance] of his Lord, Most High.

اللَّيۡلِ Al-Layl 21 الآية :

وَلَسَوۡفَ يَرۡضَىٰ

And he is going to be satisfied.
