And all of them are coming to Him on the Day of Resurrection alone.

The Day the Horn will be blown. And We will gather the criminals, that Day, blue-eyed.[1]

1- From terror, or blinded completely.

They will murmur among themselves, "You remained not but ten [days in the world]."

We are most knowing of what they say when the best of them in manner [i.e., wisdom or speech] will say, "You remained not but one day."

That Day, they [i.e., everyone] will follow [the call of] the Caller[1] [with] no deviation therefrom, and [all] voices will be stilled before the Most Merciful, so you will not hear except a whisper [of footsteps].

1- To the gathering for judgement.

That Day, no intercession will benefit except [that of] one to whom the Most Merciful has given permission and has accepted his word.

But he who does of righteous deeds while he is a believer he will neither fear injustice nor deprivation.

And We place the scales of justice for the Day of Resurrection, so no soul will be treated unjustly at all. And if there is [even] the weight of a mustard seed,[1] We will bring it forth. And sufficient are We as accountant.

1- i.e., anything as small or insignificant as a mustard seed.

The Day when We will fold the heaven like the folding of a [written] sheet for the records. As We began the first creation, We will repeat it. [That is] a promise binding upon Us. Indeed, We will do it.[1]

1- More literally, "Indeed, We are ever doers" of what We will.

O mankind, fear your Lord. Indeed, the convulsion of the [final] Hour is a terrible thing.

On the Day you see it every nursing mother will be distracted from that [child] she was nursing, and every pregnant woman will abort her pregnancy, and you will see the people [appearing] intoxicated while they are not intoxicated; but the punishment of AllŒh is severe.

Indeed, those who have believed and those who were Jews and the Sabeans and the Christians and the Magians and those who associated with AllŒh AllŒh will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed AllŒh is, over all things, Witness.[1]

1- See footnote of 4:79.

But those who disbelieve will not cease to be in doubt of it until the Hour comes upon them unexpectedly or there comes to them the punishment of a barren Day.[1]

1- One which will not be followed by night and therefore will not give birth to a new day, referring to the Day of Resurrection.

[All] sovereignty that Day is for AllŒh;[1] He will judge between them. So they who believed and did righteous deeds will be in the Gardens of Pleasure.

1- None will compete with Him for authority at that time.

AllŒh will judge between you on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which you used to differ."

Then indeed you, on the Day of Resurrection, will be resurrected.

On a Day when their tongues, their hands and their feet will bear witness against them as to what they used to do.

That Day, AllŒh will pay them in full their true [i.e., deserved] recompense, and they will know that it is AllŒh who is the manifest Truth [i.e., perfect in justice].

The day they see the angels[1] no good tidings will there be that day for the criminals, and [the angels] will say, "Prevented and inaccessible."[2]

1- i.e., at the time of death.
2- Referring to any good tidings.

And We will approach [i.e., regard][1] what they have done of deeds and make them as dust dispersed.

1- On the Day of Judgement.

The companions of Paradise, that Day, are [in] a better settlement and better resting place.

And [mention] the Day when the heaven will split open with [emerging] clouds,[1] and the angels will be sent down in successive descent.

1- Within which are the angels.

True sovereignty, that Day, is for the Most Merciful. And it will be upon the disbelievers a difficult Day.

And the Day the wrongdoer will bite on his hands [in regret] he will say, "Oh, I wish I had taken with the Messenger a way.[1]

Oh, woe to me! I wish I had not taken that one[1] as a friend.
